Today Prayank (who’s finally started his flex blog) organized a trial run of Asia Pacific Flex Wednesdays, the idea here is to get speakers form the APAC region to talk about Flex related topics, these 60 minute talks would happen every Wednesday tentatively at 4pm IST on this Adobe Connect URL.
Today’s presenter was Prayank himself and the topic he presented was “FlexUnit – Doing Flex unit case testing”, you can catch a recording of the session here, it was a very nice and informative introduction to using FlexUnit.
There was also a brief discussion on what could be the topics for future sessions … here are some suggestions that came up … read more

Prayank Swaroop, Adobe Flex Evangelist for the Asia Pacific region a few hours back announced the the formation of Bangalore Flex User Group and Chennai Flex User Group on the Flex India mailing list.
This is very exiting !!! Thank you Prayank for facilitating this, I am positive that this step will go a long way in nurturing the local flex community and I look forward to meeting and interacting with all you Flex enthusiasts out there.
So what are you waiting for? If you are interested in flex and you live in either Bangalore or Chennai go ahead and leave a comment on the announcements on the Flex India mailing list to let Prayank know who all are coming. read more

This is a question to Adobe and everyone else … I would like to know in detail which products from Creative Suite 3 can/should be incorporated into a Flex User Interface designer to a Flex developer work flow and how each of these products would facilitate or enhance this flow?
I asked this same question at the CS3 launch in Bangalore on Thursday but the Adobe presenters there had very little idea about what Flex is (one of them thought Flex is a server side only technology) and could not help me much. I know both Fireworks CS3 and Flash CS3 have some special support for Flex but I’m yet to explore all that.
Thank you in advance to everyone for all your help

I was at the Adobe Creative Suite 3 launch in Bangalore on Thursday (Yes, it took them so long). I liked the event, there was nothing extraordinary about it but it was nice …. I really liked how they had put an Indian touch to the whole event (music demos and stuff) and did not just present their International campaign, this shows they are really interested.
The Creative Suite 3 of course is just Awesome!! The demos were awe inspiring and well presented (especially the ones by Rajesh Patil) … great job guys! … One interesting thing that I noticed about these products was the intelligent use of some really innovative UI Components/Controls. Adobe has put a lot of thought/research into what the users really want and need and this effort truly deserves appreciation. read more

Adobe has announced that it will be open sourcing Flex by making the source code for the Flex SDK available under the Mozilla Public License (MPL). This is very very exciting as it essentially means that everything you need to develop Flex is now Open Source … the source to the ActionScript libraries in the SDK, the Java source code for the ActionScript, MXML compilers (AS3C, MXMLC) and the ActionScript debugger (FDB). Wow!!
I am very exited about this announcement and will post more thoughts on this later, but for now check out these videos that show David Wadhwani (Vice president, Flex Product Line) and Ely Greenfield (Flex Architect) talking to Robert Scoble about this new development.
