Adobe would kill to get that size of developer base. If Sun doesn't screw this up (they may), JavaFX will be as popular as Flex and SilverLight. Update 10 of the JRE, as mentioned in the video, fixes several issues of the original applets but definitely not all of them. Therefore, JavaFX can be interesting to Java developers out there but I don't thing it will be a big competitor of Flex or Silverlight.
