Indiblogger.in meet, a very interesting evening ..

February 17, 2008

IndiBlogger - Where Indian Blogs MeetI spent today evening at IndiBlogger’s Bangalore blogger meet hosted at Microsoft’s Bangalore Office and the meeting surpassed all my expectations… I met some very interesting people from various different walks of life …. people who blog about technology, people who blog about social issues, people who blog about music, people who use humor as their medium of expression and of course people who blog about everything under the sun …. the best part was that the event was extremely interactive, probably more interactive than any other event that I have attended in bangalore … good job Indiblogger, clap clap !!

If you want to know more, Sandil has a nice writeup about the event and what we did at Mutiny.in

One unexpected opportunity that the event presented was the chance of meeting many from Microsoft’s evangelism team in India, I also came to know that there is a Silverlight Evangelist in India and I plan on connecting with him over the coming days …. I wish I knew of him when I was organizing initRIA, anyway its never too late.

All in all, the evening was quite fruitful, thank you Indiblogger for organizing the meeting and thank you Microsoft for providing the venue.

  1. Damn, the meeting surpassed our expectations too!. Thanks for attending and we had a great time organising it. We hope to have many more like it in the future too. And yes, the Blogger Ethics is a great idea and we are on it already. We are planning to get suggests from you guys too and we’ll put an update to this extent soon.

    Thanks again!

Hi Mrinal, thanks to meet yesterday, I learnt about copyscape. I came home and ran the stuff for my pages. It was flattering to note that some one had actually copied (without accredition) some stuff from my blog. Ofcourse, when i let the person know of the same, he apologised and added the accredition. Happyness and nicety prevailed.

  3. Naveen, you guys did an excellent job at organizing the event and I’m very glad i chose to attend.

Thank you i had a lovely evening !

  4. @comrade … it was a pleasure meeting you, you’re hilarious !

  5. Hey Mrinal,

Blogging Ethics you brought in was an excellent point….that every blogger should seriously think about. Yes, as you said its more of an awareness problem than anything else. Its was nice meeting all you guys. That was a great evening. – Siva

  6. Hi Mrinal, it was great meeting all of you at the meet. We’ll keep you posted once we have the blogging ethics page and the event photos up. Thanks for the write up!

  7. Hey,

It was great meeting you all.. I had a fun filled evening.. Let’s stay in touch

Mrinal it would be great if you could join the google group ‘blogaloreans’ and float the idea of blogging ethics on the list… we can take it forward that way

  8. The pics of the meet have been posted. Please post your own pics on Flickr to the IndiBlogger group. Thanks!

could you please increase the font size to 13px if you control it ?
its so very painful to read fonts of this size.

my 2 cents, as a web dev.
    sorry, if this is offending.
    thanks.

  12. Hi Anitha,

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate that … font size is more of a personal preference, I prefer 11pt .. you prefer 13pt .. most browsers allow the user to increase font size on a page by simply pressing ctrl and moving the mouse wheel … you may want to try that.

    Thank you,
    Mrinal

  13. @Balaji,

Thanks a lot for inviting me dude ..

I would love to meet more interesting people in Hyderabad but given my recent change of career / lifestyle , the next few weeks are too packed to travel

    I hope you understand,

    Thank you,
    Mrinal

  14. Glad to meet you Mrinal. This is my first at any blogger’s meet. I went there with an open mind and there has been a good flow of info. I am also glad that you brought up that ethics part. How abt doing a brain storming on this along the same line of a wiki at indiblogger as u proposed? Also, we may meet informaly over some good coffee or drinks to chart out a standard.

hi mrinal, i do know the cntrl + + , cntrl + – tricks (which works only in mozilla browsers) to increase & decrease the font sizes. that was just my thought as a web developer. yeah, end of the day, its your blog :) anyway, thanks for taking time to reply.

  16. No problem mate, will meet you sometime in Bangalore

  17. Hey Mrinal, Everybody is talking about your recommendation on Blogging Ethics. Could you make a post with more details about it…

  18. [...] Mrinal, the 24 year old Rich Internet Consultant (by the way, does that mean you have a lot of money?) brought up the topic of ethical blogging, and the need to create a standard for what’s right, what’s wrong, and what’s downright nasty. Sridhar suggested having a wiki on IndiBlogger so that everyone can build this page together. You know where we’re going with this don’t you? [...]

  19. @Renie

Thnaks for creating the wiki …

I started writing a few things down on the wiki … I had one suggestion, maybe its better not calling it commandments … that word is very authoritative … and may people dont react very well to authority .. we’d probably be better of calling it .. “suggestions for ethical blogging” or something like that.

  20. @Balaji … I did not suggest something extraordinary .. these are things that most bloggers already follow .. I just thought that it would be a good Idea to increase awareness about this stuff.. check out .. http://wiki.indiblogger.in

  21. [...] Sandy and Mrinal have already done a round-up of the event. Here is my take on it. [...]
